China Europe Water Platform

The China Europe Water Platform(CEWP) was established in 2012 with the objective to promote dialogue and cooperation between China and Europe within water resources management based on a principle of mutual interest, benefit and finance. The CEWP will address policies and practices within water governance,research and business development. Two secretariats in the Ministry of Water Resources of China and the Ministry of the Environment of Denmark will mobilise EU member states, Chinese provinces and municipalities, government organisations,research and business communities and facilitate their cooperation.
Poreen Project

On January 28th 2013 the Kick off meeting officially launched the project. The POREEN project is funded by the European Commission under the 7th
Framework Programme. It is a People Marie Curie Action - an International Research Staff Exchange Scheme - whose aim is to help research organisations to set up or strengthen long-term cooperation with others, through a coordinated exchange programme for their staff.
POREEN project aims at increasing the availability of interdisciplinary studies providing a comprehensive overview (technical, legal and economic) of Europe-China relations in the renewable energy and the environmental sectors in order to support the development of a more rapid, sustainable and flexible industry in these sectors.

Scientists urge action on world's biggest problems

Scientists from 15 countries are calling for a better political response to the provision of water and energy to meet the challenge of feeding a world of 9 billion people within 30 years.
The joint statement by some of the world's leading science academies was issued on Thursday ahead of the G8 summit in the United States. It is part of the annual lobbying effort aimed at focusing the attention of world leaders on issues the scientific community regards as crucial.

ERAWATCH provides information on European, national and regional research systems, policies, and programmes in the EU and beyond. ERAWATCH supports evidence based policy making in Europe and contributes to the realisation of the European Research Area (ERA).
ERAWATCH currently covers 61 countries: the 27 Member States of the European Union, 13 countries associated with the European Community's Research Framework Programme and 21 third countries. It also provides an overview of the European Union. ERAWATCH information is collected and presented by JRC-IPTS with the support of the ERAWATCH Network of national experts.
The ERAWATCH network is also used to collect information about innovation policies in 48 countries (27 EU Member States + 21 associated or third countries) within the Pro-Inno Policy TrendChart financed by the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme 2007-2013 (CIP).

The Chinese Government and the European Union recognize the importance of good governance and to create mutual understanding on approaches to integrated water resources management.
They will strengthen their cooperation with the establishment of a China Europe Water Platform. The platform will promote policy dialogue between China and Europe on water sector reforms and improvements, encouraging capacity-building, research and business cooperation and will build on five years of successful cooperation achieved within the EU-China River Basin Management Programme.

The 5th International Yellow River Forum (IYRF) on ensuring water right of the river’s demand and healthy river basin maintenance will take place on October 16~19, 2012 in China. We are very pleased to present this invitation for you.
The IYRF Organizing Committee will hold the forum jointly with well-known institutions and organizations in worldwide water field, such as the Global Water Partnership, International Commission on Large Dams, World Wide Fund for Nature etc. And seminars will be organised on climate change, severe water resource crisis, water shortage and efficiency management.
The forum will focus on hot spots of water issues about the integrated water resources and river basin management. Facing the deteriorating ecological and living environment, taking into account demands of both rivers and human beings, to ensure water right of the river's demand is to protect the ecosystem and sustainable development of rivers and provide positive support for living and development of human beings.
During the forum, there will be a large-scale exhibition of product and achievement in the water and related fields, which consists of achievements in water resources management, water equipment, and high-tech water exhibition etc.

This is the website of the scientific research dimension of the European Union's Water Initiative. Targeting a key driver of the EU's Co-operation with the developing world, its most prominent goal is to halve, by 2015, the number of people without access to safe water and basic sanitation, estimated at over 1 and 2 billion people respectively. The second thrust is to generalise the adoption and practice of integrated river basin approaches based on knowledge and innovation.
